Tomorrow is my last day at Unitrin Specialty. I've accepted a position at Study Island, a company that provides ColdFusion backed test preparations for standardized state tests. I look forward to working with a new team starting next week, but it's hard leaving a place that's felt like home for the last 2 years.

They've posted the job description for my former position at

As you may have heard me mention before, we overhauled the entire site last year. The ways of procedural coding are almost gone. We've got a shared object model that powers the main site. Here's a few things you would need to have experience with:

  • Object Oriented Programming (with ColdFusion)
  • MVC frameworks (Mach-II in particular)
  • CSS libraries (Yahoo UI in particular)
  • Javascript libraries (currently homegrown)
  • Web services
  • J2EE experience
  • Integrating ColdFusion with Java and .NET
  • SQL for DB2, Oracle and SQL Server
  • Technical Writing
  • Mentoring
  • Source Control software
  • Project juggling

I'm going to shut off comments for this post and I'll most likely remove it once the job is filled. If you have any questions, you can use the "Yo Adrian" link in the top navigation bar.

Good luck to all who apply. It's a great place to work.
